OUR STORY

Asuka's been perfecting okonomiyaki since 2017.

Oko Oko grew out of a lifelong obsession with Japan, from the food to the neon-lit cityscapes, and a vision for a Shinjuku-style store under a red pagoda awning. A gourmet chef with credentials spanning Nobu London to Yoko in Brisbane was brought in to build the menu, and head cook Asuka has been perfecting okonomiyaki since 2017. Opened in May 2026, it’s already pushing what okonomiyaki can be.

This was the first stall anywhere in the world to launch a Wagyu Beef Kare Pan, and the world’s first Japanese Curry Okonomiyaki followed soon after. A lot of the ingredients are imported directly from Japan rather than substituted for something local and easier.
