ABOUT EAT STREET
A world built from shipping containers.
One of Brisbane’s most loved nights out, grown from the simplest idea: give great food a great home on the river.

HOW IT STARTED
From an empty wharf
to a world of
food.

Eat Street opened in December 2013 on a disused stretch of wharf on the Brisbane River. The site’s dock winds ruled out tents and so shipping containers were proposed: strong enough to hold their ground through a southerly, and repurposed into the first kitchens and bars on the water.
What went up was built from repurposed shipping containers: cut open, fitted out and turned into kitchens, bars and dining rooms. Six zones took shape, each with its own feel, all of them facing the water.
Today more than sixty micro-restaurants, retail outlets, experiences and bars trade here on the Brisbane River at Northshore Hamilton, and Eat Street is one of Brisbane’s top 3 most visited attractions.
