Dutch De Lites began with a family passion for authentic European food. Founder Marcel immigrated from Switzerland to New Zealand, where he successfully owned restaurants in Wellington for over 50 years. After moving to Australia in his 70s, he identified a gap in the market for traditional European treats and launched Marcel's Poffertjes, selling at weekend markets across Brisbane, and finally, here at Eat Street.When Marcel turned 80, ownership passed to the next generation, who has continued growing the brand ever since.
Today, Dutch De Lites proudly serves what many consider to be Australia's best and most authentic Dutch Poffertjes. Their recipe was sourced directly from the Netherlands and is reproduced exclusively for them by a Queensland flour mill, ensuring a truly traditional product. The quality is regularly endorsed by Dutch visitors who say the Poffertjes taste just like those from home.
